Meet Dr. Carolyn Ormes (Frederick, MD)

Carolyn Ormes, O.D., received her Doctor of Optometry from Salus University in 2007. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Geology from Lawrence University and later completed her M.B.A. at George Mason University.

Before becoming an optometrist, Dr. Ormes was a licensed optician in Virginia and spent many years working as a science editor. Her interest in eye care began with a fascination for the science and craftsmanship of opticianry and grew into a deeper passion for vision and patient care. Inspired in part by her younger sister's experience with strabismus, she became involved at Salus University and committed to becoming an optometrist.

After graduation, she practiced in Virginia and West Virginia before opening The Public Spectacle in Brunswick, Maryland. She enjoys helping people improve their vision and overall eye health.

Outside of work, Dr. Ormes enjoys music, knitting, reading, English change ringing, meditation, and being part of the Quaker Friends of Truth. She lives in Brunswick with her husband and plays the fiddle in her free time.
