Dr. Nathan:
Dr. Nathan graduated from New England College of Optometry in 1982 and specializes in Medical Optometry. She is a recipient of the Frederick Farnum Scholarship Award as well as the Low Vision Excellence Award.
Dr. Nathan has lived in Frederick since 1982 and has two daughters in the medical profession. Her eldest daughter is an endocrinologist and her youngest daughter is a dermatologist. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, country music, traveling, and volunteering. She is an advocate for nutrition and supplements because "food and dietary supplements + exercise can be your best medicine."
Dr. Miller:
Dr. Miller graduated from Middletown High School and has lived a majority of her life in Middletown. She attended and graduated from Old Dominion University of Baltimore County in 1992 with an emphasis on biology and psychology and graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1996.
She has three children and has served 8 years on the Frederick County Public School Board. Dr. Miller serves as our visual training specialist and in her free time she enjoys reading, music, politics, and serving the community.
Dr. Cooper:
Dr. Sydney Cooper is a residency trained, medical optometrist, specializing in Ocular Disease and Primary Eye Care. She graduated magna cum laude with her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee, and she is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Additionally, Dr. Cooper is a member of the Maryland Optometric Association and American Optometric Association.
While in Optometry school, Dr. Cooper's clinical experience was broad, examining patients of all ages, and providing contact lens fits, pediatric examinations, co-managing cataract and refractive surgeries, and diagnosing and treating ocular diseases. On one of her clinical externships, Dr. Cooper trained in a Vision Therapy office, diagnosing and treating children with binocular dysfunction, ocular motor dysfunction, and with those who have difficulty focusing up close.
Following graduation, Dr. Cooper continued to pursue additional training in an Ocular Disease residency program at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. Her emphasis included diagnosing and managing glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, along with a host of other ophthalmic diseases.
Dr. Cooper was raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She moved to Memphis, Tennessee to attend optometry school, where she met her husband, a Frederick native. She loves the Frederick community and is elated to call Frederick home. In her free time, Dr. Cooper enjoys getting outside, whether it be hiking, biking, kayaking, or relaxing at the lake. She also enjoys cooking, traveling, and volunteering. Dr. Cooper looks forward to continuing to provide the highest standard of compassion and excellence in eye care to the Frederick area.
